Linguistic centre LEXXIS is a certified organization for examination in Russian.

You can pass state tests in Russian language and obtain a certificate of the basic, elementary, first, second, third, and fourth certification levels, as well as a comprehensive examination for migrant workers and persons seeking temporary residence permits, permanent residence permits, and admissions to citizenship.

One can be tested both after attending special training courses and unprepared if a person to be tested has got necessary knowledges and communication skills.

In last two years 2250 persons passed exams successfully and obtained state-approved certificates in Russian as a Foreign Language for engagement, business, and admission to citizenship. Among them there were students from Germany, USA, Great Britain, Bulgaria, India, Philippines.

Elementary certification level (TEL)

Achievement of this Russian proficiency level enables to fill elementary communicative needs in communication with native speakers in the minimum number of situations. The communicative situations at this Level relate to everyday and social spheres.

The TEL certificate confirms availability of sufficient and necessary knowledges for further study of Russian and achievement of the next proficiency level:

Achievement of the Russian proficiency at the Elementary Level requires 100-120 class hours.

Basic certification level (TBL)

This level represents a required stage for achievement of the next (first) certification level and then higher levels. The Basic Level stands also for the minimum required basis for carrying out of any professional activities in a limited volume.

The TBL certificate confirms availability of sufficient and necessary knowledges for a standard competence in Russian as a means of professional communication. The TBL certificate gives also the right to obtain Russian citizenship.

It is expected that achievement of the Russian proficiency at the Basic Level requires 160-180 class hours on the basis of TEL Russian proficiency.

First certification level (TORFL-1)

The certificate of this level is required for admission for a Russian higher education institution with compulsory further study of the Russian language as stated by applicable education standards. In such cases an applicant shall do an additional test block with regard to his/her occupational orientation along with this examination as such.

It is assumed that achievement of the Russian proficiency at the First Certification Level requires 160-180 class hours on the basis of a basic level proficiency.

By learning from scratch it requires 440-460 hours approximately. It should be noted that the number of hours specified is only an estimate and can vary in a wide range, depending on study conditions, selected occupational orientation and individual possibilities of a student.

Second certification level (TORFL-2)

Successful completion of testing at this Russian proficiency level attests the high level of communicative competency in all communication spheres. Achievement of this level enables to carry out professional activities in Russian as a specialist in the human, engineering and technical, natural-science fields.

In the higher education system in Russia the certification testing with a following issue of a certificate is carried out as a final state qualification test (examination) giving the right to:

graduate with a bachelor’s degree in the human (except for philological sciences), natural-science, medical and biological, engineering and technical, and economic fields from a Russian higher educational institution;
graduate with a master’s degree in the human, natural-science, medical and biological, engineering and technical, and economic fields, except for interpreters, philologists, journalists, editors, managers, and diplomatic officials conducting their professional activities in Russian-speaking teams (for listed specialists this exam will be intermediate) – for persons admitted to Russian higher education institutions with a bachelor’s degree of a foreign educational institution.

It is assumed that achievement of the common Russian proficiency at the Second Certification Level requires 380 class hours and 340 class hours for achievement of the Russian proficiency at the Second Certification Level with regard to professional orientation. So, it requires, at least, 720 class hours in total on the basis of the First Certification Level proficiency.

Third certification level (TORFL-3)

Russian proficiency at the Third Certification Level gives the right to carry out professional activities in Russian as an interpreter, philologist, editor, journalist, diplomatic official, or manager working in a Russian-speaking team.

According to standards of the Russian higher education system examinations for the Third Certification Level shall be carried out as a final state qualification test (examination). Upon successful completion of tests applicants shall have the right to graduate with a bachelor’s, specialist or master’s degree in the above listed fields (except for specialist and master degrees in Russian philology, for which this exam will be intermediate).

Achievement of the Russian proficiency at the Third Certification Level requires 280 class hours on the basis of the Second Certification Level proficiency, where:

120 class hours are dedicated to common Russian language study;
160 class hours are dedicated to usage of Russian in a professional activity field.

Fourth certification level (TORFL-4)

This examination shall certify the high level of Russian proficiency which is very close to a native speaker level. This certificate is required for graduation with a master’s degree in Russian philology and gives the right to carry out all the teaching and scientific activities in the field of Russian language.
